"I Swear", the story of Mr #JohnDavidson growing up with #TouretteSyndrome in 1980s Scotland. Nominated for 7 #ScottishBaftas #BaftaScotland said Mr Davidson, awarded #MBE in 2019 had suggested watching from a separate room with family & friends.

TOURETTE SYNDROME (TS)

Genetically determined, life-long, neurological condition causing involuntary movements and sounds called tics

Usually starts between ages of 4 to 7 and peaks in early teens

Often misunderstood and associated with stereotypes, particularly regarding involuntary swearing and socially inappropriate behaviour

Coprolalia (the clinical term for involuntary swearing) affects only 10% to 30% of people with TS - it's important to recognise that those who experience these symptoms often find managing their tics quite challenging

Tourettes Action is a UK charity supporting people with Tourette syndrome.

Providing essential support, guidance, community and hope especially when no one else will.

We receive no government funding and rely on donations.

Your support helps us reach those who need us most.

We're a lifeline for families, children and adults trying to navigate life with Tourette's

Registered charity number: 1003317

Clinical neuroscience validates the exhausting reality behind neurodivergent masking.

Tourette Syndrome & Tic Suppression

Alethekanon Psochic Hegemony Assessment Graph for People with Tourette Syndrome Suppress Tics: The Cost and ScienceCore Verdict Card for People with Tourette Syndrome Suppress Tics: The Cost and Science: Claim, Reality, and Verdict coordinates.System Analysis Details:

Context: Sub-Audits Breakdown:
- Clinical Science: PASS (+0.92, +0.78) — Rigorous neurology.
- Public Perception: COND (+0.65, +0.42) — Skepticism dismantled.

Nuance: Singer Billie Eilish discussed using all her power to suppress tics during public appearances. Neurologists clarify that suppression is real, exhausting, and central to therapies like habit reversal.

Breakdown: The Bright Side:
Public education dismantles the toxic suspicion directed at neurodivergent people who expend energy masking visible symptoms in professional environments.

Social Physics: The Breakdown & Plane Error:
Skeptics confuse outward motor control (WHAT) with clinical absence of disorder (WHO). In reality, voluntary suppression proves the burden of management, not deception.

Trajectory: Social Physics Analysis:
Internet cynics run a cheap projection loop, assuming anyone who conceals a symptom is manufacturing illness for clout. In contrast, authentic neurological education provides transparent mechanics, replacing hostile suspicion with genuine structural empathy.

The Unavoidables: The Trajectory: The Path of Grace.
When scientific evidence aligns with lived patient testimony, public discourse moves toward low-strain understanding rather than toxic gatekeeping.

Alethekanon: The Unavoidable Truth: Suppressing an involuntary neurological urge requires intense, fatiguing cognitive restraint.

The Unavoidable Lie: Having the discipline to suppress a tic in public does not mean the disorder is fabricated.

Awwthekanon: Alethekanon:
Conflating temporary symptom control with deceit ignores basic neurobiology. Cognitive masking carries a steep physiological metabolic cost.

Brothekanon: Awwthekanon:
Imagine having to hold in every sneeze all day just so people treat you kindly. Seeing the effort behind the quiet shows how brave these folks are.
