I'm not sure what you think I could write "much much much better", but I've been researching how #eclipses, especially #TotalSolarEclipses, influenced ancient humanity's beliefs & #symbolism since 1992.

This bird-like pattern seen in the Sun's #corona inspired a flock of #BirdGods & #MythicalBirds.

The Sun's white corona displays a bird-like pattern around the black disk of the Moon in this composite photo of the 1991 total solar eclipse by Miloslav Druckmüller. An astronomical drawing of the 1878 total solar eclipse by Étienne Léopold Trouvelot. The polar plumes of the Sun's corona are represented as white fan-like rays above and below the black disk of the Moon. The equatorial streamers of the corona are represented as dense white "wings" on either side of the Moon.

In the late 19th century, prominent British astronomer Edward Walter Maunder very credibly hypothesized that the #WingedSunSymbols of #Mesopotamia & #AncientEgypt were inspired by the "winged Sun" seen during some #TotalSolarEclipses.

The Quo Modo Deum image may not be a depiction of the #TotalSolarEclipse "eye of God", but the 5 millennia old #RayedSunSymbols carved into Dowth's "Stone of the Seven Suns" compare well with 19th century #AstronomicalDrawings of #TotalSolarEclipses.

What did ancient people think when they saw the Sun being progressively "swallowed" in the sky?

Or when they saw that a #TotalSolarEclipse resembles the pupil & iris of a disembodied "eye in the sky"?

Or when they noticed the bird-like pattern in the Sun's corona during some #TotalSolarEclipses?
