At #SVPCA 2017 in Birmingham, I had a poster that was.... mostly about actinopterygian fish. I should have published the story here buuut I totally haven't.

My presentation for the Oxford Marine Reptiles conference is coming together. This slide is about a talk I gave on Robert Appleby at #SVPCA in Lyme Regis in 2011 ...
Some random images from old #SVPCA meetings, shared for no reason. Naish in 2017 with @bobnichollsart.bsky.social Borealopelta image, Matt Wedel in 2013 with dead sauropod and alive sauropod, and 2008 drawing of Irritator as a giant flightless pterosaur.
We're back from the #SVPCA 2026 fieldtrip, to the Upper Eocene beds at Barton and Teddiford Gap in Dorset. Such great coastal landscape. Did we FIND anything? ....
Back from #SVPCA -- a really great meeting. Some scenes. Fieldtrip tomorrow!
Another online #SVPCA talk, this by Avaneesh Khatavkar on Indian gondwanatheres. I'm chairing next session so won't be sharing news! Mostly archosaur themed, including a BAND talk...
Next at #SVPCA 2026, online talks on new megamammal fossils from the Pleistocene of the Narmada Valley in India, Muhsina T M on a new Palaeoloxodon specimen and Sakina Halvadwala on a new hexaprotodont hippo
Next at #SVPCA 2026... Chris Manias @chrismanias.bsky.social on Popularizing Palaeontology - the network that Chris runs - as a case-study in cross-disciplinary collaboration
We're in a big meeting discussing a potential future for #SVPCA. There's a big push to keep it going.
#SVPCA 2026: now Mike Taylor on body size in diplodicid skeletons, elucidated by seeing Diplodocus and Apatosaurus from above at the Carnegie. Let's just say that apatosaurines are MASSIVELY different from Diplodocus in thorax volume, neck width and more. #dinosaurs
#SVPCA 2026: next is Cassius Morrison on ecosystem level analysis relevant to Mesozoic dinosaur assemblages. No sharing.
#SVPCA 2026: an actinopt fish talk. Alice Collard-Stayte on how temperature change during the Cretaceous might have affected body size change in select taxa. Lots of measuring, stats and some patterns observed. Great stuff but does hinge on fossils being correctly attributed to taxa...
#SVPCA 2026 1st talk: William Richardson on fossils from the Hastings Group (lower unit within the Wealden Supergroup) and whether distinct faunas or communities can be recognised here.
I'm at #SVPCA 2026 and talks are just about to start. There are posters and... sigh, that Naish guy has brought along the crocodylomorph poster again.

I'm at the Symposium of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy (#SVPCA) at the University of Southampton tomorrow. I might do some live messaging if I have sufficient enthusiasm. And I think I'm taking along my Crocodylomorph Empire poster whether people like it or not.
