These alligator-sized salamanders create ephemeral wetlands in prairies and young forests with their habit of digging out wallows for themselves. Shovel-faced salamanders are often followed by shorebirds because of this.

In the spirit of #spectember I drew native life of the Ilisothoans (background) native homeworld. A more shallow ocean, archipelago planet. Domanted by amphibians & Mollusca. Not to size btw, they're all over the place

The Brainy Star Walker is a composite organism made up of both sea star and coral cells, which co-develope into a distinct organism.

Beware the dreaded Moby Duck! These gigantic flightless fowl may be herbivores, but they are fearsly territorial, especially the males during breeding season. Taking "oceanic duck" to a new extreme, they are almost fully aquatic, only coming to land to lay eggs.

A far future decendent of the anteater lineage has traded its long snout for a beak and its ant diet in favor of high fat fruits like members of the avocado family. The hairy Beath is the largest of the Beaths, 5ft at the shoulders.

The odd proportions of the Hyena Tenrec come from its greatly enlarged body size & role as apex predators of future Madagascar. These family hunting groups wrestle down their prey, & rely on their residual spines to protect them from their main competition of giant hawks.

No Man's Land - Somewhere in Oahu, a Hawaiian Monk Seal and a Green Sea Turtle share a napping spot, only to be interrupted by a Brush-tailed wallaby blocking their sun.

Said wallaby is a descendant of feral populations during the time of humans.

The snake-faced tapir spooks potential predators away as it forage with its snake-like trunk. Their foraging patterns often involve slow but constant movement of their trunk, picking out the choicest leaves & maintaining the illusion of a hunting python.

The whale-boring sea snakes eat into the outer blubber of a variety of whales and dolphins as babies & grow up in the skin, snacking on passing fish. They probably aren't comfortable for their hosts, but don't become damaging unless they infect in large numbers.
