Following a successful siege, the #SackOfWexford commenced on #ThisDayInHistory in 1649, with the #NewModelArmy of #OliverCromwell again showing its brutality in #Ireland, with thousands massacred, priests included. Cromwell's only regret was that the troops also looted the city.
