just watched Penda’s Fen.
It’s quite nice every now and again to watch a film that you can’t make any sense of.

@dreamcargoes.bsky.socialI'm also glad that my review of Ian Greaves's fantastic, absolutely comprehensive book PENDA'S FEN: SCENE BY SCENE has been published today online, before its appearance in a CRITICAL STUDIES IN TELEVISION journal issue: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... #Pendasfen #Rudkinmania
@pussellrarker.bsky.social-“Oh don’t worry, I’ll get my daughter to do it, she’ll be fine” was her response. So she did. Here’s young Caroline Hawkins in #PendasFen the play, and here she is with me tonight
@dreamcargoes.bsky.social#Pendasfen of course!

@tommyreckless.bsky.socialPenda's Fen sent me down an Elgar rabbit hole. #PendasFen
@avwoman.bsky.socialPLAY EDWARD ELGAR YOU TITS #totp #pendasfen
@tommyreckless.bsky.socialWherein I solve Elgar's enigma. #fallfriday #PendasFen
@tommyreckless.bsky.socialWhat am I doing with my life? Well, currently, after watching #PendasFen trying to solve Elgar's enigma through the medium of The Fall and Jerusalem. #PendasFall
@viewfromessex.bsky.socialCaught up (either by a day or 50 years depending on your point of view) with #PendasFen tonight
@drpaddysmith.bsky.socialIf you watched #PendasFen last night and didn't mutter "five rounds rapid" at a couple of key scenes you're made of more Elgarian stuff than I
@generalwitch.bsky.socialMissed Penda’s Fen last night? Both David Rudkin’s 1974 film and a new interview with actor Spencer Banks are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
Catch up on the film, then listen to our podcast episode
@whenisbirths.bsky.socialDo order, it’s a terrific book. #PendasFen
@clogmuso.bsky.socialThanks for this - I have the blu-ray but it’s lovely to watch at the same time as lots of others. Your insights are great
@avwoman.bsky.socialAnyway, it's kind of like if you watched "Edge of Darkness", "K9 & Company" a Jonathan Meades documentary and "I Saw the TV Glow" in one day, while stuffing your face with mild cheddar and communion wine. #PendasFen
@duncanducky.bsky.socialThere was a Radio 4 play in the late 80s (I think) set in Somerset (I think) with a young lad and an old countryman passing on his wisdom. A bit about crows and rooks sticks in my mind, a rook on his own must be a crook. Anyway, it's the sort of thing I suspect #PendasFen people might remember.
