Today's Devtober prompt is "menu" and if there's one thing a turn-based RPG is never lacking in, it's menus! Behold, for your viewing / reading pleásure, various parts of Uprooted's pause menu, with additional details described in the Alt Text. #gameDev #indieDev #godot #readABook #orAnRPGMenu

The "Your Settings" menu in Uprooted. Main options for Display/Audio, Controls, Gameplay, and Difficulty are visible, with the Difficulty menu currently opened.

The first option is just a standard Difficulty slider; the currently selected option is "Normal," which is described: "Taking advantage of most game mechanics will help you succeed."

After this option is a divider, followed by several individual difficulty mechanics, each of which can be customized to give each player a difficulty level appropriate for their play style. The currently visible options, described by their label, selected value, and description are:

Veggie Rot Rule: Until the End of Battle
Unharvested ripe vegetables will turn into weeds, which will fade away after the battle ends.

Wrong Season Penalty: 40%
Crops harvested in their off seasons will deal less than half of their base damage and heal less than half of their base healing power.

Repeat Planting Penalty: 87%
Replanting the same type of crop in the same soil will ... (The rest of the description is cut off)The "Your Farm" menu. A 3D view of the player's field is visible in the center of the screen. The 4x3 grid of soil tiles includes two mushroom logs placed in the upper left corner, an egg nest in the bottom left, and several tiles of water in the bottom right.

To the left of the field is a menu with various farm fixtures that can be added to the field. Visible in the inventory are more egg nests, beehives, mushroom logs, water paddies, greenhouses, and cows.

The greenhouse is currently selected, and below the inventory listing are additional details. These details clarify that a greenhouse takes up a 2x2 square of soil, and vegetables can be planted in it. It has no unique attributes or immunities. A description explains "You can plant veggies in the Greenhouse and they'll grow just fine in ANY season!"The "Your Almanac" menu has options for "Story" and "Records", with more room available for other options that will be unlocked as the game progresses. The "Story" option is selected and the main content of the menu shows "The Story So Far" and summarizes the game's story. It currently reads:

"After winning Farmer of the Year at the county fair, a strange man named Beckett offered to buy your farm. After you declined, he sent his robot army after you. What's going on here?!"The "Your Inventory" menu, opened to the "Crops" view. From the icons shown on top, it is shown that you can see other inventory items by switching between views, such as Combat Items, Food, Bottles, Fish, and Recipes. Several crops are visible in the player's crop inventory, with garlic currently selected. Below the item list is a button allowing the player to sell Garlic for 22 cents each. To the right is a detail view of the selected Crop.

Garlic. A vegetable that takes up one soil tile. It has a 3/5 star rating, grows in 10 turns, and grows better in the Autumn. It is immune to Wind and Pests, but weak to Salt. If the player attacks with 6 garlic heads in one turn, a special Formation is unlocked allowing them to attack in a cross-shaped pattern. Garlic has three abilities:

Burnaround: Burns neighboring soils.
Weedless: This crop can be planted on a weed, and will remove all weeds around it.
Sturdy: This crop will receive less damage from attacks.
