The purple obedient plant, also called false dragonhead, is a native perennial in the mint family known for flowers that stay in place when bent. There were many tall stalks of the purple flowers, with green leaves all around, in the gardens at Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Norfolk, Massachusetts. The stalk in front was lit up by the sun and had several black and yellow bumblebees sipping nectar from the flowers.
