Last week, the section’s Cara Gallagher attended #NSOGFÖ2026, where she co-led the workshop "Using & Participating in Ecological Forecasting Challenges for Interdisciplinary Biodiversity Forecasts & Effective Conservation", exploring how forecasting challenges can improve biodiversity predictions🐬🔊🌱

Ella White presented her poster on reliabilty of reactivity for near-term population forecasts in 2 hyena populations. Vik Radchuk has given a keynote in the session "Eco-Evolutionary Dynamics in a Changing World: Linking Adaptation and Demography".

At #NSOGFÖ2026 in Denmark, our postdoc @schwalb-willmann.de presented joint research of @uni-wuerzburg.de & UNIS on using drones to model Reindeer foraging selection – for a better understanding of Tundra ecosystems and the effects of climate change.

At the #NSOGfÖ2026 ecology conference in Odense, DK, our postdoc @jsrieder.bsky.social gave an interesting talk on beech canopy dynamics and their effects on drought-induced defoliation, research part of her recently concluded PhD @uni-wuerzburg.de

Drones could play a huge role in habitat monitoring in the future, e.g. for Natura 2000 sites.
