Oct 1875 ► There were great floods in #Nottingham; the second highest flood recorded on the River Trent, just behind 1795, with levels near 24.38 meters (80 feet). The Meadows, the Nottingham Canal and Tinkers Leen flooded, with flood waters stretching towards the River Trent.

4 October 1832 ► The Sun Inn, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, became the birthplace of the Midland Railway. In a special meeting at the inn on that day, a group of local mine owners decided to build a railway to move coal from their collieries.
