Reflections🍁

Gazing inward
a mirror greets me

reflecting my depths

#PoetryOfNature #Poetry #NaturePoetry #Senryu #poetography #Reflections #ImageAndVerse

A still forest lake reflects green conifers, a brilliant golden autumn tree, and a wooden dock. A blue slide rises from the dock and appears to create a pathway into the softly mirrored landscape. The water is dark and calm, with the autumn colors glowing in its reflection.

🌲 Nature
The forest buried my footsteps,
the rain erased my voice;
but the deepest roots
still remember who I am.

Tiny wings in drizzling rain.
A moorhen pushes herself
Away from the bank with a flash
Of white petticoat.
A golden star on a red bottle top
Stamped into the towpath.
The canal moves to a wind
That I cannot feel.

The cloths of wet fires litter the ground

#DailyNature #NatureWriting #Poetry #NaturePoetry

The cloths of wet fires litter the ground,
burning away summer with barely a sound
I hang them like shirts to dry in the wind
only to return and find their colours thinned.

crunching like salted crisps,
disintegrating to dusted whips,
supernova of the forest -

returning like comers prediction
the ignited evaporate for sleeps conviction
Those green, turn crimson, before they go black,
It comforts me , to know, we all grow back

Just now: fields full of gulls and crows, salt and pepper hurricanes, feasting on shaken soil's pic n mix

A poem from today's #DailyNature prompt

Murmur

#Naturepoetry #Naturewriting #birding #birdwatching #poetry #writingprompts #autumn

Carousel of starlings
quill into necks hairy ears
      making braille of the dawn
              Dash, dot
       flutter
Stop
                    hear:
"Be air
            be many, be. one
be beauty,
           be fear
                       be
                                                   gone"
Even a birds wing
sings
lips carved from feathers
tongues moulded in winds
                      murmur to me
I ache to listen to life

#FlyDay
We have lift off. 🕊️

#PoetryOfNature #Wings #BirdPhotography #NaturePoetry #MourningDove

A mourning dove takes flight from the edge of a shallow birdbath, both feet barely touching the stone as it lifts into flight. Its wings are spread wide, showing layered gray-blue feathers, while its head turns slightly toward the camera. Water glistens among the smooth stones below, with a softly blurred green and brown woodland background behind it.

The thick darkness
Of a mole-blind morning.
Feet slip on gravel and tiredness.
Racing clouds lower themselves
To the earth in rain.
No moon or stars,
Just waterlogged sky
And the wind among the alders.

But that is alright,
For I have
Stars enough
And windsong among alders.

Morning wakes the trees
Howlers chase from limb to limb—
Sky falls to pieces.

Winter’s breath appeared upon my window today. 🌬️

Autumn has quietly crossed another threshold.🍁🍂

#PoetryOfNature #WinterLight #poetography #ImageAndVerse #MicroPoetry #NaturePoetry #Cascadia

Close-up photograph of water beads texturing a windowpane, transforming the landscape beyond into Monet like patterns of icy blue, warm gold, deep green, and soft gray. A poem in appears lower-left of center: “Winter paints / first beads / of light / along my / window pane.”
@jeankiernan.bsky.socialSep 28, 2026, 9:57 PM

I think of some of the poets I love almost spatially:

Emily Dickinson is the window.
Lorine Niedecker is the yard.
Camille T. Dungy is the garden plot.
Mary Oliver is the neighborhood.
Wendell Berry is the fence line.
And W. S. Merwin is the horizon.

Canal-side plants

Black bryony

Chill of autumn mornings
Water mist rising
To non-committal skies.
Necklaces of fiery pearls,
Dew-polished and bright.
At the heart of each
Not a single piece of grit
But the miraculous fire of life.

#DailyNature #ukcanals #plants #naturepoetry

The towpath is slowly waking to sullen skies and the dampness of autumnal mists. Breathe in deeply. You can smell autumn in the still air. Reach out your hand. Through the damp leaves, feel the heavy ribbon of sinewy stem. Heavy with a massive of berries. Smooth, wet spheres, as pretty as pearls, but filled not with a piece of grit, but the fire of life.

The Shape of Silence
----------
In the filtered light of the forest, a fallow deer pauses between shadow and sun.
For a moment, the woodland seems to hold its breath—as if silence itself had taken a living form.
