A pearly-winged Box Tree Moth... in my moth catching box! This flew into my kitchen, had to go online to look it up as it wasn't in any of my UK books. It's an invasive species from Asia, first recorded in 2007 in Kent (I'm in Yorkshire). Very pretty but unwelcome to box growers. #moths #mothphotos

A close-up photo of a box tree moth temporarily caught in a plastic box. Its wings are white semi-translucent, pearly and iridescent with a dark coffee-brown thick border around the front and outer edges. The body is long and the same brown colour with thin pearly bands and the antennae held backwards over the body. It is resting with two right legs extended to the front and side of the box.
