Boy, they put exactly zero effort into finding an actress who looks like Mary Philbin for this reenactment of #ThePhantomOfTheOpera

Why the hell did he buy a house way the hell out in the middle of nowhere? She has no friends, no neighbors, no wonder she's climbing up the walls.

She looks like she's having fun as the bookstore clerk who picks up Humphrey Bogart's Philip Marlowe in #TheBigSleep

I saved this clipping years ago because I found it very touching. It seemed everyone in Hollywood felt it when Lon Chaney passed...
I never intended to post it, so I didn't note what September 1930 magazine I got it from. (...but probably The New Movie Magazine.) #LonChaneyAThousandFaces #TCMParty

Magazine clipping that reads,
"The first Friday night after Lon Chaney died the announcer at the Hollywood American Legion boxing contest called attention to a vacant seat at the ringside. It was Lon's; he had sat there every Friday night. Then the lights were dimned and Alan Hale climbed into the ring and recited a short poem in memory of their departed friend. The lights were dimmed while Alan spoke and the response of the crowd when they went up again was ample proof of what the "fight crowd" thought of Lon."

Narrator: The love interest is a girl he found as a baby and raised in the circus.
Me: 😲
Narrator: The actress was fourteen years old.
Me: 😬

There's a Lon Chaney collection from TCM Archives that includes this documentary with #AceOfHearts, #LaughClownLaugh, #TheUnknown (missing some footage that has since been rediscovered), and a reconstruction of #LondonAfterMidnight

Look, obviously there are many other things that take priority...BUT, I find it astonishing that Lon Chaney has apparently NEVER been awarded a posthumous Academy Award for his contributions to the artform. If I'm wrong, please let me know
