On cool days, it is possible to see steam rising from the Sulphur Works hydrothermal area. *Alert - A webcam image is unavailable during a transfer process. NPS is retiring the FTP protocol for transferring webcam images and adopting the more secure SFTP protocol. We appreciate your patience during the migration.

A familiar sight in Lassen Volcanic NP, the golden-mantled ground squirrel is a high-elevation mammal found in #forests, rocky areas, & even above the treeline. They forage for seeds, nuts, fungi, plants, and insects, then spend the winter underground in hibernation.
