This webcam shows two views each day. First, it aims down the St. Mary Valley to watch sunrise, before swinging east to show the meadows beneath Mount Reynolds. Also visible is the short, paved nature trail that takes visitors through the meadow around the visitor center.

Smithwick Channel Webcam, Isle Royale National Park

Smithwick Channel is a small break in Isle Royale's barrier islands that allows safe passage from Lake Superior into Rock Harbor Channel. Raspberry Island can be seen to the left of the view, and Smithwick Island is to the right. This passage is used by many, but perhaps most frequently by the ISLE ROYALE QUEEN IV passenger ferry out of Copper Harbor, MI to travel to and from Rock Harbor. The webcam is solar powered and communicates multiple times per day, year-round, when power and communications infrastructure allows.

St. Mary Visitor Center, Glacier National Park

The view from this webcam can be changed by park staff and occasionally we will move it and provide a different aspect of the view from the St. Mary Visitor Center. We hope to be able to provide close views of the elk in the fall and winter, tighter views of the mountains, and occasionally people at the Entrance Station and in the Visitor Center.

Thanks to the Glacier National Park Conservancy for their continued support of the park's webcam installations.

This image is from a research camera positioned on a cone in Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The camera looks northeast (upslope), focusing on the middle part of the Southwest Rift Zone. The volcano's summit is at upper right.

The webcams are operational 24/7 and faithfully record the dark of night if there are no sources of incandescence or other lights. Thermal webcams record heat rather than light and get better views through volcanic gas. At times, clouds and rain obscure visibility. The cameras are subject to sporadic breakdown, and may not be repaired immediately. Some cameras are observing an area that is off-limits to the general public because of significant volcanic hazards.

Many Glacier - 1, Glacier National Park

Many Glacier is often referred to as the Heart of the Park. This spectacular view is very similar to the Two Medicine Valley in that there is a dominant peak, in this case Grinnell Point, separating two valleys. To the right is the Swiftcurrent Valley and just up and over the wall in the background is Granite Park. To the left is the valley that leads up to Grinnell Glacier, one of the most popular trails in the park. The Many Glacier Hotel sits at the edge of Swiftcurrent Lake and is an outstanding example of the type of architecture that was so common in western national parks in early 1900. A walk through its soaring lobby is a must see when you visit Many Glacier.

Mount Washburn - Northeastern View, Yellowstone National Park

At 10,219 feet, Mount Washburn towers above Dunraven Pass between Tower Junction and Canyon Village. A fire lookout stationed at the summit provides a popular destination for day hikers, as well as housing for an employee who watches for and tracks fires throughout the summer. This webcam is located inside the living quarters on the top floor and looks out to the northeast.

This is the view *looking north from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The peak to the left is Mt. Diller and Pilot Pinnacle sits to its right. On cool days, it is possible to see steam rising from the Sulphur Works hydrothermal area.

From one of the highest Isle Royale peaks at 1,133 feet above sea level (roughly 530 feet above Lake Superior), the Greenstone Ridge Southwest Webcam at the peak of Mount Ojibway gazes across the spine of the Greenstone Ridge from the Ojibway Tower. It captures a southwest vantage point, a swath from Moskey Basin on the left to Sargent Lake on the right. The webcam is solar powered and communicates multiple times per day, year-round, when power and communications infrastructure allows.

Check this camera for winter trail conditions. At this time, Bright Angel Trail is open to Havasupai Gardens. However, trail is CLOSED from Havasupai Gardens down to and including the Silver Bridge, through May 14, 2025, for waterline replacement. Drinking water stations at Mile-and-a-Half and Three-Mile Resthouses have been turned off for the winter. Water is only available at Havasupai Gardens.
