Are you taking part in this year's #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey?
All you need to do is pop onto the @scotsquirrels.bsky.social website and report any squirrel sighting – red or grey – from anywhere in Scotland by this Sunday.
Sometimes telling squirrels apart isn’t quite as black and white as red or grey!
Grey squirrels can be ginger, and red squirrels can vary from almost black to almost silver, so look out for other clues.
Record both types squirrels on our website: buff.ly/v9EBiHp this #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey
We collect sightings of red and grey squirrels all year round, but the #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey is our busiest time of year! Last year, nearly 11% of our total sightings were recorded during the survey week.
Our survey partner for this year’s #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey, @walkhighlands.co.uk, have rounded up their favourite walks across the country where you’ll have a good chance of spotting native red squirrels, check out the list here: buff.ly/ILcp4vL
Will you be going on forest walks this autumn? Keep an eye out for red squirrels! They’re busy little creatures at this time of year as they forage & cache food. 🐿️
If you spot one, you can report it to Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels & take part in #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey!
