I was very sorely tempted to do that! Mrs Walkhighlands (we do these things are relays) wasn't too happy on the slippy rocks on the first bit to Knowe of Grugar.

Impressive!

Out checking a long distance route today, new to Walkhighlands, but where is it?

Our survey partner for this year’s #GreatScottishSquirrelSurvey, @walkhighlands.co.uk, have rounded up their favourite walks across the country where you’ll have a good chance of spotting native red squirrels, check out the list here: buff.ly/ILcp4vL

For this month's @walkhighlands.co.uk article I'm turning the creepiness factor up 500% and taking a closer look at everyone's favourite creepy wriggler......the ked! 😬

I don't know about where you are, but here at Mar Lodge it's been a keddy autumn so far 😱

We've teamed up with @scotsquirrels.bsky.social for the eighth annual Great Scottish Squirrel Survey held over the next week - and we urge as many of you as possible to get involved - by taking part and by spreading the word.

Thanks for the help!

(it seems a little crazy it also blocks cloudflare beacon? Really makes it much harder for sites to stop getting taken down by bots - but hopefully that isn't causing an issue for you)

@walkhighlands.co.ukOct 1, 2026, 6:29 PM

You are right - it is the adblocker breaking the page - though there aren't any ads at all. I've tweaked the code so that it should work anyway now.

@walkhighlands.co.ukOct 1, 2026, 6:19 PM

i think this is likely caused by a browser extension. If you could email that address and let me know what browser extensions you are running that would be great - many thanks.

We've tested extensively on Safari, Firefox and all other browsers. Could you possibly press F12 and see if there are any errors shown on the console tab? Our email is [email protected]

Can you just clarify - when you say goes back to previous screen, there isn't one - the whole thing is all on the one page. If you could email [email protected] with a screenshot it would be great.

Hi Ella, you just need to choose from the options - walks near Edinburgh city, near Edinburgh airport or near Edinburgh gate. The blue button is only for using your position instead of a text search.

there still seem to be some placenames we have about 20 of - tricky when all in the same council area. Though I'm trying to add some disambiguation on these when I find common ones.

hopefully this sort of hybrid search page gives the results all different types of users may be looking for or expecting without having to think about it.

@walkhighlands.co.ukSep 30, 2026, 2:42 PM

Our search function has now been completely rewritten. You can search for walks by name, for hill pages, or enter a placename and search for walks nearby, with many filters and ordering options (including ordering walks by their rating as per requests).
