Built for the Standard Life Insurance Company in 1890, it's one of the few architectural sculptures representing biblical parables or figures on the city's many grand financial buildings.

It's hard to see from the ground, but for me, the circular decoration around the uppermost window has a Glasgow Style feel to it, which is quite unusual on an otherwise more Classical style construction.

The Grosvenor Building on Gordon Street in Glasgow. The lower floors were designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and were built in 1864. The upper floors were designed by J.H. Craigie and were added in 1902.

Allegorical figures of Summer (left) and Winter (right) on top of the former R.W. Forsyth's Department Store on the corner of Gordon Street and Renfield Street in Glasgow. These were created by William Birnie Rhind in the 1890s.
