Two figures ride in a saddle on the back of a smirking golden dragon, a terrified human being held securely in place by a larger orc with a long braid. The edges are rough and it says "Hello from His Orc Lord's Accidental Accountant" in the style of a holiday destination postcard.

A large, pale-skinned man with a trimmed beard and geometric tattoos (Wes) in a black t-shirt bearing a skull is scrubbing sheepishly at his shaved head. Beside him is a shorter, younger man (Dante) with darker skin, playfully wild and colorful tattoos, hiking boots, shirt bearing a bear paw under an unbuttoned overshirt, knit cap, sideburns and goatee smirking cockily up at Wes. || Around them are words with arrows pointing to each figure. Dante's are: Indigiqueer, widower, 26, surfs, anxiety, Dom, steamy, cover, PTSD. Wes's are: 31, hidden disability rep, HIV U=U, uncle, big queer found family, sub, loves pancakes. Both together are: rival tattoo artists, anonymous hookup. || The background is an energetic paint-and-ink-splattered gradient shifting from orange to white to blue. The two cover variants are displayed; steamy, featuring a tattooed, bare-chested man, and also discreet version with the same character art of Wes and Dante previously described, standing in front of the 'Bear Ink' tattoo shop with a glimpse of the beach front and palm trees beyond. || Find them on KU for a limited time!

The hardcover of 'His Orc Lord's Accidental Accountant' by CJ Pines, in the upper right above a snippet of text with the word 'distraction' highlighted: || His dragon churrs, and the orc lord laughs again — he seems to be made of laughter. Effortless and compelling as he gives out orders to his crew. Big and hearty as he slings his arm across my shoulders and bids me to let him help pack my things. A reassuring distraction as we walk the streets of my village one last time, letting myself into what is now a stranger's house with the spare key I kept tucked under the rock by the front gate. Soft chuckles almost to himself as his eyes grow oddly distant, the sound matched by a soft huffing outside as his dragon's eye fills the window to see its rider within. There is a confused but friendly little chuckle as I present him with the small wooden box on its reed-woven tray; staring at the salt and dried cracker bread inside with confusion as if he'd never seen such a thing before. Maybe he hasn't? Clearing my throat, I wet my fingertip and touch the salt lightly, transferring the smallest amount to my tongue. He mimics me, grimacing at the taste, then follows as I break off a small piece of the cracker bread and eat that too. “Be welcome in my home,” I recite as I return box and tray to their table by the door. There wasn't much in the little cottage that I want to take with me. Or, to be more precise: I cannot be sure what here will be useful to bring. My writing tablet, of course. Leaving it would be like leaving behind my leg, and the chance to document the secretive orc culture few humans had ever glimpsed. The hardcover of 'His Orc Lord's Accidental Accountant' by CJ Pines, in the upper right above a snippet of text with the word 'exhaust' highlighted: || "…What are you running from?" he asks. The words crowd themselves into my mouth; the past bell, the past year, the past lifetime. But I merely shake my head. "Everything," I sum it up for him simply. "And nothing? There's plenty of problems for me here, it's true. And yet, there's something waiting for me out there. I can feel it. Maybe it's a fool's dream, but… I need to find out what it is." Misery fills me as we stand in silence, salted with the surety he couldn't possibly understand. To be honest, I'm not certain I fully understand this urge burning within me either. Not a new one, no, only newly revealed. Hidden in plain view, just as I have been all these years; waiting for the right moment to come along. Arla's lies only stirred up the ashes, Pjers's betrayal blowing foul air over the coal; but it had been sitting there all the while, a low heat now growing bolder until I couldn't ignore it if I tried. The great wedge-shaped head of his dragon stoops low enough to sniff at me. I hold very, very still as its breath blows warmly through my hair as mightily as a strong sea wind. I look the orc lord in the eyes as I spell it out for him. I am committed to my course now, even if that wind of madness which carried me here has now utterly abandoned me, leaving me adrift in strange waters alone.
