Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #WingsOpenNotFlying. #RedWingedBlackbird Sibling 1, who has just climbed over Sibling 2, is informing Mom that she has let it down. Mom is over it.

A mother Red-winged Blackbird stands on a post and stares at the camera with the dead-eye despair of a parent who has been awakened one too many times at 3 a.m. by a screeching youngster with a voracious appetite for caterpillars. One of her offspring sits on the fence beside her, completely checked out, while Sibling 2, who has just climbed right over the oblivious Sibling 1, screams in Mom's face as it stretches out its wings and yearns for the bottomless hole inside it to at last be filled.
