If you’re following the #SaveTheSternberg campaign for @sternbergpaleo.bsky.social against the proposed closure by #FHSU, please read this from an alum and active paleontologist.
Moreover, with the loss of #Sternberg and #ANSP... both #FHSU and #Drexel cited "difficult choices" and "budget cuts". So, if money could be raised to sustain either, would the admins even consider it? My cynical take is "no" they've been waiting to do this and finally got the chance.
This is beyond depressing. The loss of the @sternbergpaleo.bsky.social and @sternbergcamps.bsky.social and represents just a massive short-sighted blunder by #FHSU. The Hays community will be worse-off and lose the fossils from the area to museums further away...
