Museums are charged with an important task: to maintain and protect our collective record of biodiversity for current and future generations. Work like this paper can help us to understand not only what life was like in the past, but also to better understand future dynamics. #museumsmatter

This work examines diversity and disparity patterns among mammalian assemblages of the John Day and shows the important role of museums in collecting, protecting, and caring for our past and present biodiversity.

She began this work as a graduate student intern at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Kimberly, Oregon. This work is co-authored by Dr. Nicholas Famoso @drfamoso.bsky.social , who is museum curator and paleontology program manager at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.
