pretty much a bust on moths last night. mostly micros, and I've somehow already lost the light for my macro lens.

a green geometer moth, wings fully outstretched the moth has elegant white lines - two pairs on the forewings, and one pair on hindwings, making dramatic "V" shapes. the base of the wings has a slight white fringe.

rearranged, made a makeshift barricade. then a HUGE dragonfly shows up!

I don't see dragonflies here! at freshwater ponds, sure. but in dry, hot October, at my place?!

I watered the yard & put out a bowl for them. 2 of 4 had a drink.. and then knocked it over & ran off with the bowl!

moved the sheet from yard to deck, then set a camera to alert me if the 🦝 came upstairs.

5 minutes later...
