Good morning, my friend! Happy #FriYay! I invite you to our weekly #respite in #mygarden. The Kousa #dogwood berries are ripe and my experiment with #dahlias keep on keepin’ on. We’ll sit and enjoy great 🎶 on the World Classical Network free iHeart app/streaming WCRI 95.9)! Join me from 6-10am.

Kousa dogwood berries close-up.This whole Kousa dogwood is covered! The inside pulp of the “berries” are said to be edible, with a taste reminiscent of mango or apricot. Never tried it. I’m pretty sure this is the “Polka” dahlia, but I accidentally threw away the info & growing instructions. Regardless, it looks happy in my front border collection.

Can't believe I didn't post this gem of a fanart yet. I playtested a really neat game called Dogwood, and thought I might as well show Doug some love on the canvas :)

A very pleasant day but Hurricane Isaias is approaching. So far it doesn't look like it's going to direct hit us but mother nature has her own plan... One more day.

I recently participated in a playtest for Dogwood, and I just had to make fan art of Snow. They're such a cool cat! (literally)

Fall is close. The little white berries on my dogwood shrub good food for the birds. #dogwood.

Dogwood On The River
It's mid spring in Yosemite National Park. The snow has melted, falls are flowing, and animals are running wild in the park and the dogwoods are blooming in the valley.

Dogwood On The River

The blossoms glow like small lanterns against the deep, shadowed current of the Merced River. Their white petals—broad, smooth, almost luminous—seem to float in the warm Yosemite air, catching every bit of soft spring light. You can almost feel the cool breath rising from the river below, a gentle contrast to the sun‑warmed branches where the dogwoods bloom in full, circular clusters.
The scene carries that unmistakable mid‑spring energy of Yosemite—snowmelt roaring through the valley, the falls at their wildest, the air rich with moisture and movement. Against this backdrop, the dogwoods stand serene and bright, their pale faces illuminated intentionally while the water behind them falls into velvety darkness for dramatic contrast. It feels like a quiet moment carved out of a season overflowing with motion—light touching petals, shadows deepening the river, and the valley humming with life.
