Why We Can’t Get No Satisfaction Let us now add another factor to this development of supposed intelligence and culture. As I have been saying, altricial means humans are born helpless. We would die if not cared for. Secondary altriciality of humans, and only humans, means our brains and consequent functioning are even less advanced than other species at birth. We are, in essence, born premature relative to other species. We are born even more helpless. And the later development of our brains comes in a social, not biological, surround. The period after birth requires that the newborn get its needs met indirectly, that is, through someone else. In the womb, one’s needs are handled automatically by Nature and biology. One does not have to cry in order to get nutrients. However, the human newborn, in order to get its needs met in that time of dependency must communicate. At the same time, it also helps to be non-fussy, to smile a lot, and to be adorable. So these social requirements — conflicting as some of them are (that is a whole other story; we’ll get to it) — are put upon our infants. Humans thus learn sycophancy and conformity right at the beginning, even prior to any enculturation in society which might push those tendencies even further. THE THIRD DESCENT — PREMATURITY Page 27

PLANETMATES: THE GREAT REVEAL Page 10 Bringing Some Horse Sense to Bear I also watched as these Republican-speaking mouthpieces for the rich and for the economics of greed were more and more the only voices being heard. Of Course, Of Course Just at this point, the Mister Ed chart markings of the DOW began that nodding, as if to say, “I’m tired of being propped up. I just want to lie down, to let my head hang low, to rest, to not have to confirm self-serving theories of rich people, using their wealth to make the biased and twisted thinking of their underlings to be sounded endlessly above the din of the moaning masses who year after year see their costs going up, wages stagnating, and their efforts, doubled, tripled, and beyond without being able to get their heads above it.

That particular view of ourselves reigned supreme until Freud came along during the first half of the Twentieth Century and dispelled that hubris. He let us know we did things very often out of unconscious pushes and pulls that we only after the fact rationalized as being products of our will and reason. Further expansion of our knowledge in psychology and consciousness research pertaining to our motivations have provided ever stronger affronts to our vanities of reason and will. It follows — and this is something that our science refuses to see — that these early experiences involving our biological events ... which are separate and distinct from the early experiences of all other species or types of beings and which shaped all our thoughts afterward ... will determine how we interpret our findings and conclusions, even in science. Science clearly does not have a clue about the unconscious forces directing its inquiries and fashioning its findings. Arrogance, Reason, and Human Wrong-Gettedness Yet some very few have seen and understood that flaw and so insisted on inner exploration as a concomitant to cultural research. “We remain ... one of the few species whose bodies have adaptations suited to water as well as land.” “...bipedalism is rare in Nature. As bipedal humans, we were beginning a whole new adventure for life on planet Earth.” “Civilization describes the whole sum of the achievements and the regulations which distinguish our lives from those of our animal ancestors and which serve two purposes — namely to protect men against nature and to adjust their mutual relations.” — Sigmund Freud, Civilization THE DESCENTS OF MAN Page 1

Most people critique from the sidelines because it's safe. Real team members put their own ideas forward knowing they'll get attacked. That takes guts and that's who you want.
