Thancred shook his head, his long hair falling into his face as he cast his gaze towards the ground. Bryony, not thinking, reached out to brush it back. Before she could, he caught her hand reflexively. Realizing her intent, he relaxed slightly, his grin turning sheepish, but he didn't let go of her hand. Instead his grip shifted, his calloused fingers interlocking with hers as he turned towards the ship, exhaling heavily. Carvallain was overseeing the loading of the last few bits of cargo into the hold as Lyse and the others looked on. From here, Bryony couldn't hear what Urianger was saying to Alisaie, but she looked slightly confused. Far above them on the deck, she could see members of the crew scurrying back and forth as they too made their final preparations for departure. The feeling of nervousness she'd been quelling rose again, and she broke the silence between her and Thancred in a rush of words. "It's going to be a long journey. I-I've never travelled this far by sea—or at all—before."
