#LitHodgepodge 9

Ooh these are always tricky! I'm not great at music choices!

But! I will say that, for vibes reasons, this is currently Ray's theme song in my head for #AnthropomorphicNovel 😂

For #AnthropomorphicNovel the villains want freedom. To be themselves and not have to hide it. I think that's definitely understandable, except for what it is that they would do with that freedom... 🤫

I think the cast of #AnthropomorphicNovel would fit into a good heist movie! Like Ocean's Eleven, perhaps?🤔

Ray would make a fun mastermind with a ludicrous plan, Simon would be the new guy with something to prove, and Tom is their tech support on the comms!

I do love a heist! 🧵

October 1st – injury

#AnthropomorphicNovel, today!

This one obviously had to go to Ray.

But at least the person who pushed her down the stairs is concerned! 😁

#WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

I had only just placed my foot on the first stair when I felt a hand on my shoulder and a hard shove threw me off balance. I stumbled, throwing my arms up to cover my head as I rolled down the steps and slammed into the wall of the landing below, my arm resting on the fire extinguisher and the oxygen bottle at my feet.
It could have been worse, the landing was less than a dozen steps down, but this was still really going to hurt when those painkillers finished wearing off.
I groaned and looked up from the floor to see someone at the top of the steps, obscured by the smoke rapidly filling the stairwell.
“I thought I heard your voice, Rayna. What luck, running into you here.” The figure began descending the stairs.
	“redacted.”
This was just perfect. I moved to push myself up off the floor to meet her.
“I wouldn’t do that, Rayna,” redacted chided. She smiled as she showed me the gun in her right hand, now carefully trained on me. “You might have a spinal injury. You should stay very still, after a fall like that.”

September 22nd – meltdown

#AnthropomorphicNovel, today!

Pure vibes today!

Simon has been having a tough time, lately.

#WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

“Simon?” I called.
The incubus was still crouched on the floor of the truck, gazing off somewhere in the middle distance. Apparently, he had been shot at one too many times today. As sensitive as they were to the emotions of others, being directly targeted for death could be tough on an ubarae over time.
	“Simon!” I raised my voice.
His head snapped up, eyes wide, pupils too dilated. Terrified. And the blood loss probably wasn’t helping. He needed proper medical attention soon. For now, I snapped my fingers in front of his face.
“I need you to focus, just a little bit longer. Go with Vasquez. I will join you in a minute.”
He bobbed his head but still didn’t say anything. I didn’t have time to play therapist; as long as he got in the car, we could deal with the rest later. Simon rose and stumbled to the sedan. Vasquez raised an eyebrow.
I shrugged. “Just keep him safe. We need him.”
	“Got it.”

The main villain, and Queen Istaria also get a bit of POV time to set up important moments. K'ivin the spymaster does, too.

#AnthropomorphicNovel is first person, so the only POV character is Ray. We see the entire story unfold through her eyes, so it is less expansive but more personal.

Fox would punch her for sure.

For #AnthropomorphicNovel, I think Wallace, more of a side character who isn't an antagonist but is kind of an ass, might rise to that level. He's sort of smug and insufferable.

The main, secret, villain probably does too, but I won't say why 😁

The antagonist from #AnthropomorphicNovel is very well liked! Thus far...

They'd like it to continue.

September 7th – elevator

#AnthropomorphicNovel, today!

Ray has been in a small accident.

She’s fine, mostly, but they will still probably fuss. For some reason.

#WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

I limped back into the office, leaning on the shoulder of one of the medics. Tom, James, and Jessica were waiting for me at the elevator.
Tom looked to the medic first. “How is she?”
“She’ll be fine. Going to be really sore tomorrow, though,” he replied.
“Glad to hear it.” Tom punched me in the arm, harder than I thought was really necessary. I winced obligingly.
	“And the suspect?” James asked.
“She has a head injury. The containment team took her to the med center. She’ll live. For now.”
	“Thank you, Terry.”
Terry nodded and turned back to me. “You need to rest and take it easy for a couple of days. Hot baths and over-the-counter painkillers should be sufficient.”
	“Thanks, Doc.” I replied.
“Any time, Ray. I’m sure I’ll see you again soon.”
He walked off, leaving me with my colleagues. Which would have been more welcome if they weren’t so pissed with me at the moment.
