A painting of a young white skinned girl painting a miniature portrait on an easel. She wears a dress under a red skirt, with a patterned front, and a black collar and a close-fitting black cap that covers her ears and descends in a V in the middle of her forehead. Her right elbow is bent such that her hand, holding a paint brush, rises toward the work on the easel (she's painting a bust-length portrait of a man). Her left elbow is bent so that she can easily reach the palette she holds with her left hand (only her thumb is visible, through the hole in the palette). Her left hand also holds a clutch of 4 or 5 brushes. In the upper right corner is a coat of arms. Under it, in gold paint, is the artist's signature, which reads, "Durch An(n)a Waser v(on) Zürich / im 12. Jar ihres Alters gemalt / Anno 1691."
