Doh-ho-ho-ho-ho #SilentSunday #DailyVenice #Venezia #pareidolia #AccidentalMuppets

An external wall in various shades of terracotta coloured brick, bathed in warm sunshine. Sticking out from the centre of the wall, separated by two shuttered windows, are two chimney flues - big vertical rectangles of protruding brick which taper to a trapezium, which gives them the vague shape of puppet heads. Underneath both of them there is a small dark window, which the flues half cover, which look like open guffawing mouths. The flue on the right has tiny square windows towards the top, with a flowerpot perched in each, which in this context look like eyes. In shape and placement and colour-palette and expression, they immediately vividly reminded me of the grumpy old Muppet hecklers Statler and Waldorf, companionably and silently chortling their derision at the state of the world.

Reference image of Muppet puppets Waldorf and Statler, sitting in their customary box at the Muppet Show, mouths open and chuckling away.
