Enemy (2014). On a bit of a Villeneuve tip it seems. The discomfit and building uneasiness was effective and really appealed. Leaves you questioning the true interpretation. There's a natural ending 5 minutes before the film ended. Feels like they missed a trick in the edit #FilmSky #ReelRank

Screenshot from Villeneuve's yellow film. He makes interesting choices and maybe the yellow monochrome added to the increasingly uncomfortable theme of the movie. This image shows a yellow tinted Jake Gyllenhaal, who in this shot is portraying Adam Bell. Adam is on a payphone and wearing sunglasses that seem not in keeping with the down-to-earth character Adam Bell is supposed to be, as the side of the sunglasses have a big gold logo on the arm.Screenshot from the film. It shows the skyline of Toronto with a massively enlarged version of the Maman spider sculpture towering over the buildings. As with all the film, there's a yellow tint to the whole picture.

I also really enjoy my 1.0 Films Reel 🀒, even more and more, as it accumulates more #movies. So far, 35 #films that are as bad as films get. Just reprehensible, irredeemable trash. Slop.

Some people like these better! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I make a wisecrack in the intro copy about watching Legends of the Fall, and it inspiring me to make a movie of the worst films ever made, and be sure to put it in it. They're all just in the order they got discovered/added after Legends (we see Jumper, Dumb Money, Homestead and Red One after Legends of the Fall)Lots of movies! If you're curious about which, go check out that ReelRank.net link I dropped.Lots of movies! If you're curious about which, go check out that ReelRank.net link I dropped.Lots of movies! I do rather enjoy my 10.0 Films 🀩 Reel as it accumulates only more and more #movies. 34 #films (and counting) with perfect ratings and no substantive notes from me.

They're all must-sees. So's my Reel, I'd argue! Go give it a Wow: reelrank.net/l/HxI6Mh

Sicario (2015). So much thought in every frame to reflect the pushmi-pullyu of good and evil, the light and dark. The personal battles and whether being on the side of good eventually leads to the evil. Or not. And the tension! #FilmSky #ReelRank

Screenshot of the film. The taskforce is kitted out in night vision gear, walking through the desert at sunset. They're silhouetted against a beautiful, but darkening sky.Screenshot of the film. Kate Macer, played by Emily Blunt, almost in silhouette against the sky, walks across the roof of a government facility at dusk with a male CIA agent. The sky is light blues and greys with highlights of pink and red at the edges of the clouds. The majority of the picture is sky and roof, the figures of the people lost in the large expanse.

And, ofc, no LiveSky review would ever be complete without my #ReelRank review to cap things off: reelrank.net/r/0002wi

Uh, woof!

I still tepidly recommend it (mostly bc of Joanne Whalley), but 6.0 was as high as I could go for a movie that does so little in its 3rd act.

Sometimes, the stars align (poorly), and you wind up repping a movie you've never seen over other stuff you've never seen, and stuff you've seen and know is terrible.

As I understand it, that's what you're supposed to do in the #ReelRank Movie-vs-Movie game... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

#NowWatching: The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997)

I've seen it a bunch, but not since I got on #ReelRank, and I like to rewatch old stuff when I review there, rather than just relying on my ratings from when I was a teen or in my 20s (ages ago).

So here goes for an old fav 🀩
