Who is doing beautiful #nativeplants art? I want to find human-made Maryland/Piedmont/East Coast U.S. native plant art, any format (painting, ceramics, textiles, etc), for purchase. Can you help me?

Buttonbush, Cephalanthus occidentalis. One of my favorite native shrubs. They're in the coffee family, Rubiaceae. It's easily identified by its unique round flowers and its glossy leaves. They attract a wide variety of polinators and the seeds are readily eaten by birds.

Northern broken-dash, Polites/ Wallengrenia egeremet and bumblebee on buttonbush flowers, Cephalanthus occidentalis. There's some discrepancy about its exact genus and species. The caterpillars feed on panicgrasses, Panicum sp. The adults prefer white, pink, or purple flowers.

Was so excited to plant a sassafras this year that I planted two. This one's leaves shriveled up before it sprang back into form; the other did well most of the season until it suddenly died. Excited again about this survivor!

you can kind of picture where the term carpet of leaves originates. looking down at reddish brown pinnate leaves covering the ground from eye-height. these leaves are from a tree my grandma gave me when it was shorter than she was, and she barely reached 5'2" after a good sleep. it's almost as tall as my one-story house, now, and she's gone to memories

This Cowslip orchid, with its distinctive bright red markings, is likely the currently undescribed subspecies referred to as the Brookton Cowslip (Caladenia flava subsp. 'late red') 💛❤️

A collage of some of my favourite yellow-themed flower and/or insect photos, all taken by me this growing season

Top row, left to right: cutleaf coneflowers in my mother's backyard (native plant); a bee crawls across a branch of flowering goldenrod (np); and a tarnished plant bug crawls up the ray of a dwarf sunflower

Middle row, left to right: a clouded sulfur butterfly gathers nectar from a white clover; and three large sunflower heads grow on one stalk in a park pollinator garden

Bottom row: a shot of a native plant garden that I passed in September, which had a few clumps of goldenrod growing among a large patch of black-eyed susans (nps)
