IRISH WITCHCRAFT AND DEMONOLOGY
St. John D. Seymour
Dublin: Hodges, Figgis (1913)
Love this first edition of Rev. Seymour’s study of the occult, the predecessor to True Irish Ghost Stories (1914). He’s buried in Mount Jerome, near Le Fanu. Visit him sometime!

#Booktober Day 16: kicking off the weekend with a selection of haunted inns and pubs. As ever, looking for more local ones over on Weirdo Dublin Pubs…hard to top the cover of the Worcestershire one.
#booktober no. 15. Let the Right One In. I love a vampire story, but I don’t like them beautiful, ethereal and romantic. I like them fucking dark. Child vampires are particularly unsettling, and Eli is terrifying, but then so are the majority of the humans in the book.
Der neue Grisham ist da!
"Number one New York Times bestselling author John Grisham delivers a gripping, suspenseful page-turner about a Paris honeymoon gone horribly wrong - and the nightmare that follows."
- innerer Klappentext -

THE DEMON LOVER
Elizabeth Bowen
London: Jonathan Cape (1945)
Bowen’s stories are the perfect combination of odd and poignant. I’ve love to see a collected volume of only her supernatural fiction. First edition with jacket.
Day 15/31 #Booktober #Halloween🎃👻
Fazit: Ich habe jede Seite genossen! Wer cozy Romance liebt, sollte sich diese Geschichte nicht entgehen lassen.
#Booktober Day 15: back to some ley lines and related mystical stones. Poor old Alfred Watkins knew not what he’d unwittingly laid the groundwork for (sorry/not sorry).
#booktober no. 14. Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV. I fucking love this series. Monsters are real, and adults can’t see them, which is inconvieniant when they are literally feasting upon your children. There are many graphic novels coming up on the rest of this list.
Late to the #Booktober party Day 14 The first of my two bookshelves of books on Ohio ghosts and my own contribution to the haunted Ohio canon.
#HauntedOhio
Midsummer Sisters (@nikismithcomics.bsky.social) pulled me apart. I picked it up on a beach trip, AS ONE DOES, and oh my GOSHHHHHHH my heart. Gorgeous cartooning, perfect horses, and a story that sticks with you.
a++++ would cry again 🐎🪨🛶💅🏼

EARTH-BOUND

EARTH-BOUND
Nine Stories of Ireland
Dorothy Macardle
Worcester, MA: Harrigan Press (1924)
My first edition of Macardle’s ghost stories, which Swan River Press reprinted in 2016; this copy belonged to author Maeve Brennan. It’s also visited Macardle’s grave.
Day 14/31 #Booktober #Halloween🎃👻
#Booktober Day 14: first roundup of some of the American Regional books (we already did Canada during the first week of this year’s countdown). Behold, the haunted Northeast Corridor!
