In #mathstoday I taught 1st lesson of AL stats. They used #Gapminder, #worldfactbook and the #OCR large dataset to produce graphs and plots in #Desmos. Also my #GCSEmaths resit students focused on nailing one mark questions in their 1st lesson.

For developers, OCR can be surprisingly useful.
Imagine having a screenshot of structured information and needing JSON, CSV, XML, YAML, or SQL instead of manually rebuilding everything.
That's a much more interesting use of OCR than simply copying text.

I still think OCR is most useful when it does more than just give you a wall of extracted text.
A photo of a table should become a spreadsheet.
A scanned letter should become an editable document.
A diagram should become something you can actually work with.
