Had my day of the fortnight where #MathsToday consists of 4 hours of year 12, finishing up with an hour of top set year 8. Love it so much. Getting A lvl classes reading for their Calculus assessment, and #CoreMaths for their one on Data next week. Yr8 formed equations 😁

In #MathsToday, a Friday afternoon lesson with Year 8 called for some Prime Factory (mathsbot.com/puzzles/prim...) and Find the Primes (mathsbot.com/puzzles/find...) to support our recent work on simplifying/equivalent ratios.

Sadly, I didn't beat either of my high scores.

In #MathsToday #ALevelFM we were working on de Moivres theorem. All was good until we got to ones like this where they needed to make the arguments match. Does anyone know where I could find more questions like this?

Used Gemini to make a "Sometimes, always, never true" worksheet for Year 13 for Differentiation. Happy with the result, would have taken a very long time to make myself

Used this NCETM task today for finding the area of triangles. Students have to measure the base and height. The original sheet doesn't have the heights drawn on but for my group they needed that scaffolding. They need a bit more time in the next lesson but I'm happy how it went.

Lots of #undergroundmaths today. Some functions with Composing Gets me Nowhere twice and a nice 1967 AO question on trig identities and equations. #MathsToday #ALevelMaths

In #MathsToday I did mock prep with yr 11. A booklet of xover questions with three on each topic and ms at the back. They worked in pairs and groups. I only intervened when there was a whole class blockage. Lovely buzz on the room.

Today was another day of teaching Computer Science, so not much was done in #MathsToday.

In Year 9 we've been practising our skills with strings (interwovenmaths.com/strings), Year 8 were looking at logic gates and building some circuits with (logic.ly/demo/), and Year 7 were doing more Flowol!

I think from the moment we start algebra I do not want to stray away too much from the fact that those x's and y's are standing for numbers.

Used this lovely Mathsbot task. So many of my students said the red shape had the greatest perimeter.

In #mathstoday, year 12 were learning through play with reciprocal trig functions (and a few extras!) #alevelmaths #memorygame

In #MathsToday I have been working on some tools to help beginning teachers think about how to teach Negative Numbers. My coding's not great - so Scratch it is 😀

What resources are put there for Pearson Statistics A-Level?

Is there a decent textbook?

Has anyone implemented it at their school, if so how is it goingl?

Love representations in maths.
But definitely do not like algebra tiles. Is that ok?

With Y8 in #MathsToday, we investigated negative powers. I wanted a self-assessing activity to quickly spot students struggling after setting the task.

So I used my generator to create a 🔺 puzzle.

In #mathstoday yr 1 #alevelmaths investigated transformations of functions using desmos, yr 2 did geometric sequences and series with some more MWB work continuing with example sheets from mr-mathematics.

In #MathsToday, Year 10 were doing some averages from frequency tables.

They started with this from one of @studymaths.bsky.social's #1001MathsBots [table not revealed at first!].

And then moved on to some variationy practice questions.

A 6 × 6 grid of purple dice showing scores from 1 to 6, alongside a blank table with columns ‘Score’, ‘Frequency’ and ‘Total Spots’ for scores 1–6. Heading: ‘How many spots? How did you count them?’

We introduced collecting like terms with Y7 in #MathsToday

Six pairs of expressions, formed with Algebra tiles with the prompt "Simplify these expressions".

#Mathstoday Before I decide to give the maths helper Indices sheet to my Yr10 set 1 I decided to do these myself.... Can I say, this was a lot of fun
