Loved Frances' coverage of that experimental garden and the consequences of clime change for us gardeners.
Enjoy your weekend, folks 👋

And how many more weeks of Monty?!
#gardenersworld
An hour of #GardenersWorld done already? No! Quick, put another 50p in the Monty meter!
Yes Monty my hydrangeas were rubbish too. I've dead headed and watered as we've had no rain for weeks #gardenersworld
Wonder how many more weeks of #gardenersworld we have this year.
Everything looks so healthy at Bloom Sheffield, clearly the gardeners are giving it so much care and attention, and healing themselves in the process. #gardenersworld
We have loads of urban badgers these days. There was one that kept breaking into my last garden - I had to repair the fence about 4 times! They're really destructive. Luckily the one here seems to prefer my neighbour's garden! 🤞🏼#gardenersworld
Hmm, I've always been taught to pick up seedlings by the leaves, not the stem. #GardenersWorld
Filled in my koi pond they went to a lovely new home, massive lake. The liner was also leaking and was going to be so expensive to replace. I was also going to make a lawn but planted glasses and verbena . #Gardenersworld
Carol's garden is a paradise...anything tasty here gets eaten by one thing or another! #gardenersworld
#gardenersworld. Sowed seed from a supermarket pepper. Easy to germinate and eating the results all summer. Will over winter a few plants in the house and sow more next spring.
The chard and spinach beet looked sad in the heat, but as soon as it rained they bounced back into growth. Those are tough customers thanks to their chunky, deep tap root. #GardenersWorld
#gardenersworld A few visitors this week
Hoverflies
Lunar Underwing
Angle Shades
Well I can throw rosemary and sage in as two edibles that seemed to thrive in the heat. Oddly nasturtiums were a fail - they went to seed and shrivelled up in the first heatwave. The seed was viable - there's loads of seedling coming up now! #GardenersWorld
I think I would cover the Salvia cuttings, and make cuttings earlier, something like the end of July, August.
#GardenersWorld
At least I don't need to buy sand to make potting mixes: my #allotment soil sits on top of a pure sand layer a spit down, with gravel another spit or two under that. I "harvest" sand in winter when digging hugelkultur beds. #GardenersWorld
Rooted some salvia cuttings in a pot of water in the kitchen. Just potted them up. #gardenersworld
#gardenersworld a few more from this week
I wonder if Monty lost his salvia over winter due to cold or wet, or if Carol Klein just popped round for a cuppa with her secateurs and plastic bags? 😂😂 #GardenersWorld
Lost the label 😂
Love it
