So many to choose from, but remembering seeing these field roses - one with a visitor - made me smile. (Black and yellow longhorn beetle)
#favouriteplant for #wildflowerhour Bog pimpernel present in quality wet meadows.
Square-stalked St John's Wort was the second of my two UK lifers for #WildflowerHour this year. At @rspbengland.bsky.social Strumpshaw Fen in August. #FavouritePlant
#WildflowerHour #FavouritePlant I can't leave out beautiful Butterfly orchids! I always get mixed up between greater and lesser, but I love their name even though to me they look like angels! #Cumbria in June. @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Can't believe it's the end of the #Wildflowerhour challenge season already.
So here's Marsh Pennywort which I was thrilled to finally find in full bloom (though the flowers are tiny) this August after years of searching.

Another #wildflowerhour #FavouritePlant was this gorgeous Hedgehog Clover Trifolium echinatum found in a Hampshire field in July. Second ever for Hampshire, last one over 60 yrs ago. @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Sea Milkwort at Church Norton in May. This gets to be a #FavouritePlant of 2026 because I'd never seen it before and while its small size makes it easy to miss it's really stunning when seen up close. #WildflowerHour
#WildflowerHour #FavouritePlant Bee orchids are another favourite, so happy to see these return to a successful patch in my home city on a well kept verge! Such happy faces and gorgeous sparkly pink petals. #Preston @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Outside the UK, but my actual #FavouritePlant of 2026 was this Strawberry Clover in Paris in late August. Just because I've tried to see it repeatedly and had near misses where I probably found it but couldn't prove it. Finally I found one with the distinctive seed-head. #WildflowerHour
Not one #favouriteplant for #wildflowerhour but two, Autumn Scilla and Autumn Lady's-tresses, from our holiday in south Devon this week
Probably my favourite find of the year was a flourishing colony of Portland Spurge growing alongside Yellow-wort at Hodbarrow. Both rare plant register species in Cumbria.
