César Romero was a Cuban American who began his career in Latin Lover roles before joining the coast guard during WWII. By the 50s he was a staple of tv & film.

Apparently, Whit Bissell (Stanley Briggs in “Lost Continent”) did not like the film b/c due to the low budget the sets and costumes & props were pretty cheesy BUT he did have an overall positive experience with the rest of the cast.
