Another excellent arrival of warblers today with the headline birds being 300 Chiffchaff and 135 Blackcap, the best otherwise just a Firecrest and a couple of Redstart. The rise of Blue Tits continued with 70 recorded today. Overhead there were 750 Swallow but otherwise quiet. #kentbirding

My first Red-throated diver of the Autumn was fishing off #Ramsgate Port rocks and drifting further along westcliff yesterday afternoon. 🙂 #Kentbirding

Overhead passage was limited to 1100 Swallow, 60 Sand Martin, two Tree Pipit and 320 Meadow Pipit. Offshore seemed quiet apart from a feeding flock of 24 Balearic Shearwaters that fed offshore before going quickly west #kentbirding

Dungeness this afternoon from the Fishing Boats, besides watching a flock of 17 Balearic Shearwater drift past, there were a number of Arctic Skuas patrolling back and forth.

A very good fall of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps with over 175 birds ringed this morning, all amongst a host of other species. Best of all being a showy Yellow-browed Warbler at the south end of the Trapping Area at around 11am ##kentbirding

Me and Lorna did the usual middle aged couple things this Sunday

Went to the rubbish tip and then a wander around a garden centre

Before strolling into the Dungeness RSPB reserve to catch up with Neil’s Pectoral Sandpiper this afternoon

Then a cup of tea back at the car

Re. Buff-breasted Sandpipers, I recall 1 (or was it a pair?) at Blagdon Lake in October 1986. Then refrained from twitching to focus on my patch @sandwichbirdobs.bsky.social. Long wait until 17th Sept 2022 when Martin 'Radar' Sutherland found one on the shore - nearly bust a gut running #KentBirding

Come join us for the Big Kent Bird Migration Day at Dungeness Bird Observatory, it is only a week away! There will be plenty with a guided walk, migration watches, seawatching and bird ringing if the weather allows.

Today is full of Meadow Pipits with hundreds overhead and 101 ringed #kentbirding
