First decent autumnal movement of Dark-bellied Brent Geese at Sandwich/Pegwell Bay @sandwichbirdobs.bsky.social. From 08.55-11.25, 1600+ N mid/offshore up channel plus coming in/N through the Thanet (300MW/100 turbine) Array in a SW breeze then after resting/reorientating 285S inshore. #KentBirding

On the land there was a Wheatear, a Reed Warbler, 72 Chiffchaff, two each of Firecrest and Goldcrest. Passage over the sea was quiet, but there were still plenty of birds feeding offshore including a Black Tern. Wildfowl moving past included nine Brent Goose, 10 Wigeon and five Teal. #kentbirding

On one of our recent owl catching sessions, we caught a 1cy male Barn Owl that was ringed elsewhere. Expecting it to be somewhere local, due to the fact that most don't move very far, we were surprised to find it was ringed 134km away as a chick on 23rd May near Touchen End. #kentbirding

This morning gave a little arrival but by late morning nearly everything had gone through. Totals include a Yellow-browed Warbler, 100 Chiffchaff, 24 Blackcap, 53 Song Thrush, three Redwing and a Brambling. Overhead 500 Swallow, 220 House Martin, 9 Grey Wagtail, 130 Meadow Pipit... #kentbirding

A decent morning ringing in the Trapping Area with a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Brambling the highlights. There was the first decent arrival of Song Thrushes of the autumn with at least 40 recorded. #kentbirding

Highlights over the last two days around Reculver/Minnis Bay have been a male & female bearded tit yesterday, a dartford warbler today. Plenty of chiffchaff, a few blackcap, the odd firecrest. Butterflies still on the wing, including wall brown, clouded yellow & small copper. #kentbirding
