day 20 - free day

in amaris’ first few hours after arriving at camp dragonhead post banquet, haurchefant takes care of her in ways she knew she needed and in ways she did not

"They aren't much, I will admit." Lord Haurchefant explains as he lays out a bundle of clothes. A white cotton tabard and a wool lined coat colored in creams and browns. A pair of worn sollerets and leggings for warmth. Nothing fancy. Nothing like a ball gown. He is partially correct. They are, undeniably, not much yet simultaneously everything. Each article of clothing is a leaving from a someone before her — someone who was strong and became even more than they already were. She hopes she can do the same yet she isn't sure if she can. "They're perfect." Amaris replies, a weak smile on her face as she pulls her borrowed cloak around her form. "Thank you...for these and for everything you're doing for us." He shakes his head in reply, returning her smile with one of his own. "Think nothing of it." She nods as her hand darts out from under its cover to graze the fabrics - to find familiarity in what is now hers."Are you hungry?" Lord Haurchefant asks as he is already moving to the door to give her privacy. "It wouldn't do for you to carry on with an empty stomach." Amaris realizes in that moment she is absolutely positively very, very hungry. She had not enjoyed a proper meal since before the banquet, and the realization of that fact alone is enough to make her cry. Thick tears begin to well in her eyes, uncontrollable and quick. The salt of them runs down her cheeks to an end goal of her new found attire now placed softly in her lap. "I'm hungry..." Amaris sobs through gritted teeth. Her words are a prompt that leaves no room for hesitation. Proceeded by a promise that he will return, he rushes out of the door before she can even blink. Lord Haurchefant is a good man, she thinks to before correcting herself between furious wipes at her cheeks. Lord Haurchefant is a good man, she knows.

Taking slow and tentative steps, she walked over to the counter. "What I want to know is…" She pointed a finger right at Hancock's face. "How do you know when it is?"
