✨ A whole world of stories in glass.
The Mission Window in the southwest transept rose of Speyer’s Memorial Church fills its tracery with figures, scenes and vivid colour.

Large circular stained-glass rose window in the Memorial Church in Speyer, Germany. Dark stone tracery divides the window into numerous radial sections filled with richly coloured figurative scenes. The glass contains groups of people, individual figures, landscapes and decorative motifs in red, blue, green, white and gold tones. Smaller portrait medallions and ornamental elements surround the central sections, while the dark tracery creates a strong contrast with the illuminated glass. The overall composition appears highly detailed and almost mosaic-like, with many separate narrative scenes arranged across the rose.

Medieval fragments gathered together in the window at St Michael's, Cambridge including a rather nice Trinity shield.
It was the chapel of Michaelhouse College until dissolved by Henry VIII, its lands went to fund Trinity College.
Now in part a cafe with excellent breakfasts!

Probably my favourite #StFrancis window, by Edward Payne at Didbrook, #Gloucestershire, 1962, showing the saint preaching to a parliament of birds. Lots of loving detail of bird life, including a handsome #OwlishMonday for tomorrow! #StainedGlassSunday

Exploring the breathtaking beauty of Ely Cathedral, the "Ship of the Fens." A remarkable place where history and architecture come together.

Light through the glass. A stained glass window in the clerestory of the Cattedrale Metropolitana della Natività di Maria Santissima, Siracusa, lights up one of the columns of the nave arcade. #StainedGlassSunday

16th and 17th century Flemish roundels and heraldic shields at St Mary the Virgin, Fawsley, Northamptonshire

The 3rd one here has the arms of the Washington family - it came from the manor of Sulgrave in 1834.

'Our Daily Bread' by Mark Angus, 1984, in Durham Cathedral. I understand that the window was commissioned by Marks & Spencer to celebrate their centenary. It's rather good, I think. #StainedGlassSunday
