Interesting footnote to my afternoon of bulb planting. I found an egg left by a fox in one of my large pots. Sounds crazy but this is the third I’ve found over time in either pots or the front garden. #gardening #gardeninglife

So that’s three large pot bulb lasagnes completed. Now recovering with feet up and coffee to hand in the conservatory. I’m pacing myself. 😂 #gardening #gardeninglife

So this afternoon is about starting my bulb planting. This is my haul so far. It’s all about decisions regarding lasagne combos. I’ll no doubt need further purchases along the way. #gardening #gardeninglife And btw I’m aware that planting tulips should happen later.

Good afternoon everyone. After lunch out I started the big border tidy up removing hedge cutting debris. Unfortunately,the arrival of rain only allowed me to tidy the deck plus most of the section of the border behind it. I also tied a climbing rose in. #gardening #gardeninglife

Raise the flag. Sounds the trumpets. This afternoon along with my able assistant, Mrs H., I completed my most hated job of the year- the final neighbour’s hedge is cut. The huge tidy up though is still to be done. #gardening #gardeninglife

The cutting of the left hand rear hedge completed. #gardening #gardeninglife

I’d cut the sides of the left hand hedge ( remember neither hedges are mine) a few days ago and then this afternoon tackled the 10 ft wide top. I do this not because I want to but if I don’t the untidiness of my view assaults my senses. #gardening #gardeninglife

Late morning I tackled the hedge cutting of the rear hedge. I started by doing what I could without needing a ladder. #gardening #gardeninglife

So the afternoon started off with more deadheading. (A long armed pruner I find to be invaluable for climbing roses, standard roses and reaching into wide borders). #gardening #gardeninglife

In the end I emptied the last four large pots ready for bulb planting so that’s all the pots sorted. Now I just have to find the time and the weather to finish cutting the hedges and re topiarising the tree. #gardening #gardeninglife
