#Eloquence is an actor's gift and a #writer’s trap—letting your nonsense sing,

Eloquent speakers can take your most leaden #prose and make it dance right past the audience’s good sense and taste.

"As a girl I adored Cary Grant."

"I grew up on Looney Tunes."

She waltzed. Backwards… in high heels. When I tripped she tittered lightly. I chortled like Elmer Fudd.

She complimented me in three-dollar words.

And I reciprocated with all the #eloquence of Porky Pig.

She’d never been known for #eloquence, but at her mother’s funeral, she found her voice.

She strode to the lecturn, unfolded the page, and captivated nearly everyone.

Mary Lou elbowed the man next to her. “Mark my words—she killed her.”

The police arrested the daughter that day. #vss365

He had the eloquence of an elephant
Words bumbled around in his mouth
Fell out all over the ground
But, that grin...
Sucked you up & reeled you in
Then the 'fun' could really begin

“Being eloquent is a gift, but knowing when to remain silent is pure gold.”

Folklore held her there
standing on the balcony
in a white sari defying allegiance

A flickering lantern
cast haunting shadows
amplifying the quiet #eloquence
of her presence

Those who beheld her in the dark
could never see her face
only her luminous grace

History enforce our minds
away from the past to
find #eloquence of destiny
It offers a lesson that unlocks
unlimited present at least once
Proving us the future never ends
for a simple reason
Life leaves a trace 'we--alone'
can't memorize or alter

a resting pause
holds tension
giving melody its weight
a single brushstroke
balances a work of art
morning mist rises off the lake
in soft fleeting transition
between night and day
the world, still and sacred
we witness
the subtle presence
quiet #eloquence
of magnificence
in such abundance

he insinuated himself into the world without the strength of arms or force of personality, all it took was an excess of #eloquence that he seemed to know exactly what to do with; words brought smiles and laughs that welcomed others in to his purpose, and they were glad to come along

born with a twisted tongue
words stumble
they tangle in a mouth that caged them
standing on the podium of life
a mere dot
broken
a fluttering tummy
practicing it's tricks
naked on a stage of humiliation
to die again
in the mind
a voice of #eloquence
cracking the chamber of doom

The eloquence with which
the devil seduces humans:
whispering deceitful words
and alluring one liners,
feeding their visceral impulses

They swallow and swell
until they’re gagging,
vomiting
pools of darkness
and call it truth.

‘Let me help you up.’

‘Thanks. Getting old is an adventure. I thought I’d age gracefully & be that person at the bar who speaks with #eloquence about life’s lessons.’

‘I’ve seen many people fall off barstools.’

‘Alcohol preserves many things. However, dignity is not one of them.’

The language of my family was colorful but simple. I loved the "big words" I found in books. In time, the #eloquence of those authors served me well in the wider world where vocabulary was seen as an asset. The big words are mine, now, and I still add to them.
