All she wants is to be with Mari, to be on the surface where Mari is. And so she kills Mari and brings her back, just like how she died saving the prince and was brought back by Grace so she can once again experience love on her own terms. #さよララ 12
What an episode. What an ending. What a show. What an immensely interesting duo Lara and Mari are. Both Mari and Lara reject the mermaid's idea of true love. Lara is fated to restore the light by repeating the cycle? Screw that. #さよララ 12

A queer story that highlights societal expectations regarding sexuality and gender is super cool to see, and I'm glad they really hit those themes well! The epilogue being condensed to just five minutes really leaves you wanting any kind of closure though.

Goodbye, Lara final episode:
"I don't need true love! All I want, all I'll ever want, is to be in a world with you!"
This is undeniably a queer story with focus on comphet and transitioning, and those themes are represented well!
I feel like we needed a full epilogue episode.
