Day 11 of #devtober - not much happened today. Well, there is some sort of shop UI and dynamically generating ShopItem slots, but I had to re-evaluate how I want to do this.

In my naive mind, I thought it would be nice to render everything on a page in a book, and make it look cool. I still want..

#devtober day 11, adding fences/walls to placement tool

Kinda gloomy out today and my motivation is low along with it, so I just expanded the little cliff placer tool to include support for fences and small Brian-height walls.

#Devtober Day 7

Like the collectable flowers, the tree stumps are all randomized too.

May is very opinionated when it comes to tree stumps, lol. But they're also fairly reasonable opinions.

#devtober day 11 Not very impressive work, I was only really messing around while in work, chopping the 2D tiles into textures and trying to figure out how to use them like I had in Junk Sec. Interesting. Lots of work though, hoof! I can see why sometimes people just draw on borders!

#devtober day 10, interior lighting confusion

Much of Quest takes place indoors, with the Grand Abbott's room very first thing people see. It's a monastery, so it feels like they'd have more windows for light, but without darkening then the higher areas on the walls feel bad.

Today was another slow day. I haven't quite been able to kick my exhaustion but I did more work on the character customizer. #devtober

#Devtober Day 6

This may not look like much, but...
- Bobbing hand cursor
- Selecting different tabs using cursor AND dedicated buttons
- Selected tabs are highlighted
- 18x12-sized overworld map showing visited areas.
- Current location is marked.

Tomorrow I'll show another sidequest.

Art pass of one of the test rooms. #devtober

Day 10 of #devtober, didn't do anything. I have some pressing matters to take care of. Will hopefully start working again on Monday.

Day 10 of #devtober - after squashing some bugs, the settings are finally working as intended. At least the ones, where the behavior is wired up. Only keybindings are left. But they have to wait for another day. It's time to focus on some gameplay mechanics again.

Day 9: Not much today. Added a tileset and thought about trying wavefunction collapse.

Doing some tinkering with a test level this weekend. I also wanted to try out @alfredbaudisch.com's Vertex Studio and even the free version has been a boon to my workflow. Haven't hit all the rooms with it quite yet, but the ones I have are given such a boost in atmosphere. #devtober

An isometric view of the test area I'm working in for this FPS game.

#Devtober day 10 Ok yeah so I spent all morning making that electricity box gag instead of doing anything really useful but it's interesting to finally get the zombies into situations I was hoping to fight them in!

#devtober day 9, projectile fixes

Noticed the scaling issue a few minutes after posting yesterday (zzzz), also wrote an importer to take landmine's nice spell data sheet and write SO's for the spell graph to use that original data instead, so things feel much more familiar now.

@sabre230.spookycrunchbunch.comOct 10, 2026, 12:09 AM

Implemented a dash maneuver, used by holding the lock-on button and pressing jump. You can also dash when not locked on to anything with the same button combo. #devtober

#Devtober Day 5

Added menu transitions. Similar to map transitions but *different*. 🙃

This time, the menu transitions are more flexible than before. Any transition can work for any menu (or minigame).

May's map-opening animation is back too. And it looks nice in tall grass. ^^

Day 9 of #devtober, worked a bit more on the law system. Laws (logical statements) can now be evaluated to see if they are satisfied.

Upcoming next are contradicting laws that overpower each other.

I also practiced my Eainglich. The game can now generate sentences with correct verb tenses etc.

A code snippet showing how a law is being defined and later evaluated against a set of parameters: a murder with a knife and a murder with a handgun.

Later section showcases a primal method of constructing Einglich sentences.Software output showing that laws are being evaluated correctly: murder with knife is legal, murder with handgun is illegal.

Later output also shows the synthetically constructed sentence: "Bob has murdered the victim with a weapon".

Day 9 of #devtober - settings are getting more and more fleshed out. Decided to build some kind of factory. Just by defining each of the settings lets the UI build all by itself. Also each 'SettingDefinition' implements its own 'apply()' function, for handling value changes.
