I wanna dabble here and consider Camp DuLock, which has notable deserts in the 5GC, in that they are horticultural science labs.
The planet has a wide variety of biomes, but a few are desert.
Vibe is... scramble all the Earth deserts and minimize the biodiversity.

The Wastes (in red) is a rain-shadow desert along the eastern flanks of the Western Range. Home of proud adaimag plainsmen in their yurts, a very different group of maosa, the source for copper, and the point of origin for the primary antagonist, Hurásu.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 1. In the Kingdom of Ophádûn, Edenia, we have the southwestern region of Alämhra which, thanks to the Yamassar mountain, is a desert—and it also has a pretty famous dessert, the jülamel, a puffy, round, flaky bread baked with sugar crystals and that 🧵

Baked under a scorching sun.

But it is also very beautiful. When it does rain, the native plants suck up the water and bloom riotously for as long as the water lasts, and more permanent growth can be found in the deep ravines and valleys shaded by high walls.

The Forgelands are a large, volcanicly active desert in the southwest of the Alliance. Despite their aversion to the sun, it is also home to the majority of Dwarves in the setting, though they live under it.

It is extremely rugged, with deep valleys and towering plateaus,

1: In Karnassia (co-created with @jmaxwell-author.bsky.social), the predominant desert is Avenad, a desert between the Erias and Velas-gav mountain ranges. It is a hot desert, with little plant growth on the surface, and the Avendrals who call it home exclusively live in...

KiTan (all deserts have male names on YelNi) surrounds the lands of the LyTasken Clan. As it's located closer to the equator than others, it has a reputation as the deadliest on the planet.

So, there is at least one desert. Maral is the country where the desert meets the sea.
I can’t tell you much about it, except Charia was born there and dislikes it (not a fan of the desert, as an aquatic) and it’s a good place to practice magic, since the empty sands 🪡

The rocky and stony Valkuun desert takes up a majority of Necarus' lands. Very little survives in the harsh temperatures, yet somehow the necari once had tribes spread out all across it. How they managed it, isn't readily known.

The Aywu Akfa is the largest desert in the planet, situated in the tropical area of the Akfanjewa (Ana) continent. It is populated by small animals, prevalently nocturnal and one human settlement, the capital Aywu, near the sea.

For a moment I was thinking I didn't have one only to realize, the Wilds outside Ivory City is technically a desert!

It would be like combining the craggyness of a dried lake bed with the aridness of the Central Basin. The something sand-adjacent due to local the fauna.

Sure! In Ye Olde WIP 3 the whole book takes place in the desert kingdom of Soreia. I tend to call this WIP a 'High Fantasy Western'. Soreia is vast, nobody even attempted to explore it for centuries, believing it completely devoid of water.

Only one MAJOR continent sized desert that is only really named by the country it is, which is Wiil. It's in the south west of Itzam and has some towns near oases. It's dreadfully hot even in the fall. They are fairly insular and don't like foreigners much

#OctoberWorldbuilders

sepia colored map of Wiil with a larger oasis to the north near the capital city and several smaller ones scattered about in the south, west, central east and directly east of the large one. there is an island to the south west with a port. There's another port to the north
