A little egret standing in a dark stream bed where the gently flowing water is shallow. The all-white bird stands very still, facing the camera with his head turned slightly to the right, his dark beak pointed downwards, and wings folded in. Through the reflection in the water, his green feet with their long toes are visible. The water doesn’t even come up to the knees of his dark-colored spindly legs. In the stream bed, some pebbles and other detritus are visible.An all-black rook perches on a broken tree branch, facing to the right, in profile. The corvid's paler beak is open and throat slightly enlarged as he calls out to other birds in the area. His dark wings are folded back and his body is angled to maximize the volume of his caws. The background is a pale blue with other tree branches visible, but softly blurred.
