A charming ephemeral item; a small publicity booklet issued by the then famous Royal Hotel in Scarborough on the Yorkshire Coast and produced under the name of Mr. R. T. Laughton, one of the three generations of the family to have run the establishment. The Royal Hotel issued many fine items of publicity and this example is designed by Laurence Scarfe, who was commissioned on several occasions by the hotel, and is printed at the Curwen Press, Plaistow. Undated it has a feel of the mid-1950s. It rather echoes some of the contemporary British Transport Hotels publicity.
