I took pointers from @twai.bsky.social and @stefjn.bsky.social and laid multiple soft layers and lastly a wet one. Thank you! The edge betweent successful wet coat and pooling is like catching the optimal time to eat an avocado. I think I managed in the end though. #histscalemodels #ItaliaGB

Italeri Schwimmwagen, well loaded. Was destined for a diorama with a Kingtiger, but I never finished it. KT got binned, though it was not too bad, just big and I could not store it. I should make a nice little base for it one of these days. I got the new Tamiya Schwimmwagen lately, the wide tire version - lovely kit - and it includes the old driver as well as some fantastic new figures, so I should see if the old driver will fit this kit :)

TOM Pupchen with Dragon figures from their 2.8cm anti-tank gun. Lots of work needed on the Pupchen, but I remember it being a fun project.

Tamiya 20mm Flak gun, stripped down for Gebirgsjager use. The sight was "fun" to make, it drove me nuts trying to get everything square, still a bit wonky, but it does not look too bad. Figure is from the DML Gebirgsjager set, and the dog is from the Tamiya Livestock set. I used oils to paint the dog over a dark yellow base, and actually amazed myself with how well he turned out, at least for my abilities.

Mostly just parts clean up for now, but also tiny distributor scratchbuilt. Still need to make a fuel pump, coil and steering box. Testing the limits of my eyesight and big fingers, that is for sure!

Parts for a Fiat 508CM Coloniale. Seam lines cleaned up, chassis assembled, and motor being prepped for spark plug wires. Tiny distributor on the side, as well as some other bolts and things here and there to add detail or refine existing parts. Still need to make a few other parts for the engine, then hope to start getting paint on things. Sadly, tread on tires reduced while cleaning up center seam. Well, I suppose they can look a bit worn, the desert was rough, after all. I found after the first one that scraping worked better than sanding and helped to preserve the detail a bit better. I like to have a bit of variety in the wear on tires though, as it gives it a more used look. Interestingly enough, comparing them to Jeep tires in the same scale, they are a bit taller, and quite a bit wider, so I would imagine this little car may have had better flotation in soft terrain. However, it does have the drawback of being only 2WD.

I had an additional session today for the anti-glare, including the matt varnish on it. Now, will anyone tell me how to lay ak gloss varnish without it making drying drops on the surface? I used all ak varnish+retarder (5:1) mixture 1:1 with the thinner. I already gave up on Vallejo #histscalemodels

Had a slight crisis where I thought that this diorama I've been working for technically 5 years disappeared in the Ouse move. However it has been found in tact!

Very limited bench time as it's all hands on deck with renovation but I will finish it soon!

Getting closer to finished. Just a tiny bit of detail painting and some splash mud left to go.

Italeria “Toyota Land Cruiser” in 1/24 scale. Done up as a beat up BC mountain truck just like I remember them. A bit of fishing, camping and hiking awaits!
