Let's make this the year #Quartz wins! #TeamQuartz #MinCup26 #RockFormingMinerals

#Quartz seems to be doing well in today's #MinCup26 matchup. There's still time though, so if you haven't done your part for #TeamQuartz, go vote! (Also go vote if you want that other mineral to win; just know that you're wrong for it. 😜)

I cannot in good conscience support a mineral with a fixed chemical composition. All minerals of outstanding character are solid solutions @mineralcup.bsky.social #quartz #stopthequartzbandwagon #MinCup2026

I support #Quartz
And I put my money where my mouth is 😉

Subducted chert with perfect little #garnets scattered in a sea of #quartz, as seen under cross polarized and plane polarized light; FOV ~ 1.5 mm. Laytonville, California US. Garnet has previously won #MineralCup and maybe 2026 is finally the year for #quartz! #MinCup26

This is how you win votes for #Quartz.
You invite family for lunch and get them to vote 😉.

#MinCup26 I didn’t vote for #Quartz this time (again), but I did pick up this lovely ‘pink’ amethyst yesterday. Photos are a bit shit though, sorry. There’s a calcite cluster in the piece as well.

Pink amethyst ‘geode’ piece. There is calcite on the bottom of the piece.Close up of a ‘pink’ amethyst, displaying a fan like formation of crystals.

We’ll get right to the point, along with this Clovis beauty from @arkansasarcheology.bsky.social, to vote #quartz in today’s #MinCup26 matchup.

#Quartz has been a favorite since childhood. I know it's like the pumpkin spice latte of minerals, but I still love it. #MinCup26

Team #Quartz all the way! #MinCup26

Gets my physics vote as 20% of Earth’s crust & representative typical elastic moduli, piezoelectricity & its role in clocks, electronics, GPS, computers!

Quartz has played a huge & varied role in art history since antiquity. Carved, in pigments, canvas prep…

It's fascinating learning about unusual minerals like #stichtite but good 'ol #quartz is so fundamental to geology that it has my vote in #MinCup26 go #TeamQuartz!
